Meditation & Routines
I really LOVE the thought of MEDITATING regularly. But as for most, it is hard for me to do. Fit another, yet fantastic, health beneficial activity into my already busy life is hard. In amongst being a partner, mother, supportive friend, business woman, eating healthy, exercising, cleaning the house and paying bills, I am like most of you out there, exhausted at the end of the day. Our days are simply too short and no matter how good of a planner you are, there just never seem to be enough of that precious time.
I have decided I still want to keep meditating but I have become realistic, a human, a normal person and decided to not put all that pressure on myself. I now meditate intermittently, when I have time. And trust me that is so much better than not doing it at all, but most of all it is much better than constantly feeling guilty for yet another missed meditation session.
So how do I do it? I have set a little goal of doing two small meditations twice a week. I use Headspace, which allows you to pick from all sorts of different meditations, and choose the length of your session. A normal session for me is now only 15 min. That may not sound like much but it is enough for me, for my body and for my mind. And I am happy with that.
The most important thing when choosing a new activity is not to put more pressure on ourselves if we are already under lots of pressure. Being gentle and nurturing towards ourselves is all that is needed. Start slow and if you, your body and mind thrive, you are likely to spend more time on the activity without it feeling like a chore.
